Queens Park Rangers have enjoyed a very good start to the season with Mark Warburton’s side currently ninth in the Championship.

As the former Brentford man wasn’t backed significantly in the market, he has set about improving the current group with his coaching methods.

And, one man who has really come on under Warburton is Ryan Manning.

The 23-year-old has been on the fringes over the years and had to go on loan to Rotherham for regular football last season, however he is now a key figure for the Londoners.

Playing in what was an unfamiliar left-back role, Manning has starred, with Football Insider claiming that Newcastle are the latest top-flight side to show an interest in the £2-3m-rated player.

Whilst his contract is set to run out in the summer, QPR have an option to extend that and here we look at THREE reasons why they can’t sanction his sale in the New Year…

He is very important to the current team

Firstly, Manning is an important player for the R’s, evident by the fact he has played in every game under Warburton in the league this season.

Even though some may think it’s a long shot, QPR are in the mix for a top six finish and if that’s still the case in January they simply can’t afford to lose the versatile Irishman.

He is only going to get better

As well as that, he is a player that has his best years in front of him so the R’s will be keen for him to develop under their guidance.

Of course, his contract situation could force their hand but they need to be doing all they can to tie him down for the long-term.

If they do, he is someone who can be pivotal to this team moving forward.

The rumoured fee is far too low

It’s naïve to think that QPR will be able to keep hold of Manning at all costs, because we know that money talks in football and Premier League clubs have a lot of it.

But, the £2-3m mentioned is not an offer that would make the Championship side sell – or it shouldn’t be.

They need to be holding out for much more than before they even consider cashing in.
