Aston Villa's search for a new manager continues to rumble on a week after the vacancy became available and shows no sign of ending any time soon.

Steve Bruce was relieved of his duties after blowing a 2-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Preston North End at Villa Park.

It was the latest poor result in what was a shoddy start to the season for the Villains, and the culmination of plenty of anger shown by the fans towards the former Sunderland and Hull City man.

John Terry, Thierry Henry, Rui Faria and Roberto Martinez have each been favourites for the job at some point in the last week, but there is one stand-out candidate who should be top of the list.

Brentford's Dean Smith is the current favourite for the job and looks like he could be handed the job soon.

But is he the right choice?

Here are three reasons why the Bees' boss should be the frontrunner for the job...

At both Walsall and Brentford, Smith has shown how good an attacking manager he is.

This season has seen the Bees play some of the best, forward-thinking football in the country, let alone the Championship, and he would be a huge success at Villa Park.

You only have to look at Neal Maupay and Ollie Watkins this season to see the positive effect he can have on strikers.

Scott Hogan and Andre Gray have gone before them at Griffin Park as well and it is scary to think how good he could make Tammy Abraham.

If Villa fans desire somebody who is passionate about the club then they need look no further.

Smith has been a supporter of the club throughout his whole life and that combination of terrific attacking senses and a real passion for the club would make him a real success at Villa Park.
