Reading look set to announce the signing of Norwich striker, Nelson Oliveira on loan for the remainder of the season according to HITC Sport.

Oliveira has fallen down the pecking order at Carrow Road and has had a history of well documented disciplinary issues in his time with the Canaries.

These well publicised problems, have led to the striker not making a single appearance this season for Norwich, who have emerged as surprise promotion contenders.

Reading have been linked to the Norwich forward in a number of recent transfer windows and his arrival will put to bed, any rumours about him moving elsewhere.

The Royals are in desperate need of a goalscorer that can fire them out of the relegation zone, with the Royals well in a relegation scrap this season.

But could Oliveira be the man to take Reading out of the relegation zone?

We look at three reasons why he can below….

Oliveira is a proven goalscorer

Oliveira scored 15 goals in his first full season with the Canaries and has certainly proven that he can score goals at this level.

Reading are in need of a proven goalscorer and Oliveira certainly fits that criteria.

If he can settle into life with the Royals, then this will be the perfect signing.

He's got a point to prove this season

Oliveira has rarely played in the last couple of seasons for Norwich, and he'll feel as though he has unfinished business in the Championship.

His discipline issues will be a concern, but if Gomes can keep him grounded, Reading will have the clinical goalscorer they've been crying out for in recent years.

He's playing for a permanent move to Reading

The move is a loan deal until the end of the season, but given that Oliveira evidently doesn't have a future with Norwich, he'll surely be playing for a permanent move to the Royals.

If he can make a good impression with the Berkshire-based side, then there's no doubt in saying that Reading will want to sign him on a permanent basis, providing he can save them from relegation in this year's campaign.
