Nottingham Forest are expected to have a busy January as the club look to back Sabri Lamouchi with the new signings that he needs to sustain a promotion push.

Whilst there are several areas that the boss will want to strengthen, bringing in a winger has to be a priority and TEAMtalk have claimed that Jack Clarke is a target.

The Spurs winger spent the first half of the season with Leeds United but he failed to force his way into Marcelo Bielsa's plans and he has now been recalled by the Londoners.

However, another loan move is in the pipeline and the Reds are believed to be battling the likes of Preston, Middlesbrough and local rivals Derby County to land the 19-year-old.

Here we look at THREE reasons why Forest need to do all they can to land the player...

They need new options out wide

As mentioned, Forest need more quality out wide as soon as possible. Sammy Ameobi has struggled in recent weeks and Joe Lolley hasn't been at his best this season.

So, Clarke would provide the side with a direct, quick option out wide and ensure they have much more quality in the final third.

He has shone at this level

Even though this season has been forgettable for the teenager, Clarke has done well in the Championship before.

Last season he was outstanding for Leeds after breaking through, playing 24 games for Bielsa as they reached the play-offs. His talent on the ball was clear to see and he weighed in with some vital goals and assists.

Forest would be landing a player who has shown he can thrive at this level.

It would be a blow to Championship rivals

The final reason Forest should do all they can to land Clarke is that it would see them get one over their rivals.

The report claims that 'nearly half the Championship' are chasing the wide man, so it would be a real coup for the East Midlands outfit to finalise the deal.
