Experience at the highest level
Dwight Gayle’s time at Crystal Palace may not be reflected upon for the most positive reasons.
He failed to start regularly for the Eagles throughout his time at Selhurst Park, but that isn’t to say his time wasn’t productive.
In Gayle, Newcastle find themselves with a striker who has learnt his trade at a very high level.
Having been around the likes of Yohan Cabaye and Emmanuel Adebayor at Selhurst Park can only have been a good thing for the young striker.
Learning from some of the country’s top players will therefore allow Gayle to apply himself with great quality in the Championship, and more than likely see him score more than 15 goals in an attempt to help Newcastle return to the Premier League.
