Darren Moore continues to do a good job at West Bromwich Albion despite a few tricky results in recent weeks testing his abilities.

Two consecutive draws against struggling Brentford and local rivals Aston Villa have led to a bit of impatient among the Hawthorns faithful.

They have slipped from the cusp of the automatic promotion places down into fifth place and six points behind Leeds United, who currently occupy the final automatic promotion spot.

But with the likes of Dwight Gayle, Jay Rodriguez and Harvey Barnes in attack, they are always going to threaten teams and, thus, have a real shot at promotion.

Having only kept one clean sheet all season, however, it is clear that there is still a very real problem at the other end of the pitch.

Even with the likes of Craig Dawson, Ahmed Hegazi, Kyle Bartley and Kieran Gibbs, Moore is yet to crack the right formula.

The Baggies have recently been linked with Newcastle United centre-back Ciaran Clarke to act as January reinforcement.

And here are THREE reasons why he would be perfect for them...

His arrival would certainly give the likes of Hegazi, Bartley and Dawson a kick in the right direction.

It is possible that the trio have become a bit complacent with the lack of competition for places at the back so introducing somebody like Clarke, who is of a similar status as the trio, could be just what is needed.

Clarke knows what it takes to get out of the Championship.

He was a key part of Rafa Benitez's Newcastle side that bounced back to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Dwight Gayle aside, there is a lack of promotion experience within the Baggies' regular starters and more would not go a miss.

Having been dropped by Benitez this season Clark will have a point to prove.

Players with a point to prove are often at the peak of their powers and that is something that West Brom could capitalise on.

That extra fire from the back could give the whole squad a real boost.
