Sheffield Wednesday secured a much-needed win over Yorkshire rivals Leeds 2-1 on Saturday with Atdhe Nuhiu the unlikely hero having scored both goals.

The Kosovo international is out of contract in the summer and with no offer on the table as of now it was a timely reminder to those in charge of what he can do.

The powerful striker has been at Hillsborough for five seasons but has failed to nail down a regular place in the last few years.

That has caused a lot of debate among Owls fans as to whether he should stay at the club beyond the summer and here at FLW we asked Wednesday supporters for their thoughts.

As you can see, the majority would like the 28-year old to be offered a new deal to be part of Jos Luhukay's plans for next season.

However, that may not be the best move for the club. Here are three reasons why the Wednesday fans who say he should get a new deal are wrong.

Make sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

We start with the most obvious one - Nuhiu just simply doesn't score enough goals.

His brace on Saturday took him to four for the season, whilst in the previous campaign he didn't score at all in the Championship. Overall, his Wednesday record reads 23 goals in 163 games, which is nowhere near good enough.

Of course, it has to be said his game isn't all about goals and he does have a physicality that makes him a useful option at times but in such a key position, Wednesday need better.

This summer needs to bring about a lot of change at the club and those involved in the decision making need to be ruthless.

Another obvious issue with Nuhiu is the way he makes the team play.

He is a good player with his back to goal and good in the air from crosses, but if you don't play in a direct way he is not effective.

The former Rapid Vienna man can't run in behind, can't stretch defences and doesn't have the technique to drop deep or play clever passes.

Quite simply, he encourages a style of football that Wednesday should be trying to move away from.

If Wednesday were low on numbers up front you may be inclined to give Nuhiu a new deal, however they probably have too many options already.

Gary Hooper and Steven Fletcher have struggled with injuries in recent months, along with Fernando Forestieri who can play just off a number nine.

As well as that, they have Lucas Joao, Jordan Rhodes and Marco Matias who are options for Luhukay.

It's highly likely that the manager will want to bring his own men in during the summer too, so departures are inevitable, therefore letting Nuhiu go makes sense.
