Optimism is rife at Elland Road with fans optimistic over a play-off push, with manager Garry Monk being well backed by chairman Massimo Cellino in the transfer market.

They've splashed the money of Oxford United striker Kemar Roofe whose 18 goals helped them win promotion last season.

Leeds have also brought in veteran goalkeeper along with talented loan stars Hadi Sacko, Kyle Bartley and Matt Grimes.

Most of the strengthening is needed up front with mainman Chris Wood scoring just 13 in all, with very small contributions from Doukara and wingers like Stuart Dallas.

One of the main signings up front is Swedish striker Marcus Antonsson moving from Halmstads, where he had bagged 22 times in 41 games.

His excellent form meant he narrowly missed out on the international side for Sweden to the frustration of the fans.

Here are THREE reasons Marcus Antonsson will get 15+ goals for Leeds this season......

Physically imposing striker

Marcus Antonsson123

Antonsson is one of the tallest strikers in the league.

He stands well over 6 feet and is very good in the air and will cause all sorts of problems for any Championship defence.

Antonsson would also be another good strike partner for Chris Wood or Doukara who are similarly imposing players, but can also play the opposite of young Oxford striker Kemar Roofe who is known for his pace and quick feet.

Antonsson is very strong and will be hard to mark from set pieces and will be able to brush his defender off, when trying to score now.

Good strike partner

Chris WoodChris Wood

It might depend on the formation Monk goes for but if he plays 2 or 3 up front, Leeds manager Garry Monk has a lot of options.

Chris Wood was their top scorer with 13 goals and he matches the description of Antonsson well - they could be a force together.

Though, the more sensible partnership would be to pair him to ex-Oxford striker Kemar Roofe who signed for Leeds this summer, after his 18 goals helped Oxford win promotion and earned him a nomination for League 2 Player of the Year.

Also with talented wingers like Hadi Sacko and Stuart Dallas, the service for Antonsson will be vast.

Close to international pedigree

He has been killing it in his native Sweden, scoring 22 goals in 41 games for Kalmar after struggling at Halmstads.

His impressive form led to calls from fans for him to be called into the Sweden Euro 2016 team to possibly partner Ibrahimovic, but he was not called up.

He will hope that by helping to fire Leeds into the Premier League, he can get himself firmly in the Sweden picture and if he can score 20 odd goals, he will do just that.

The service he will get from Leeds talent like Stuart Dallas, Alex Mowatt and Hadi Sacko surpasses anything he got at his native Kalmar.
