Luton Town have been thoroughly impressive this season on their return to League One as manager Nathan Jones continues to make a name for himself.

The Hatters currently sit in third place in the Championship table, two points behind second-placed Sunderland and six behind table-toppers Portsmouth.

It is in attack that the club have been at their most impressive.

They have scored at least three goals in four of their last six matches and have been blowing teams away at Kenilworth Road, with their last three results at home reading 4-0, 5-1, 4-1.

But with January rapidly approaching you can bet that Jones will be keen to add to his ranks and strengthen in any way possible.

One player that they could look to bring in is Middlesbrough winger Marvin Johnson.

It was recently reported that the 28-year-old, who has spent the first half of this season on loan with Sheffield United, could be sold in January with Boro willing to listen to offers.

It might be an optimistic move, but here are three reasons why they must consider it...

Bringing in an experienced winger from a top Championship club would be a real statement of intent.

It clearly sends the message to the rest of the league that Luton are not here to survive but to go straight up into the Championship.

Johnson is also proven in the third tier.

In his one season with Oxford United in the division, Johnson racked up a decent three goals and seven assists

He would undoubtedly add to the quality they already possess.

The Hatters are not exactly blessed with depth in wide areas so bringing Johnson in would a new dimension to their squad.

Kazenga Lualua and Harry Cormick are the clubs only first team wingers and with the second half of the season looking set to be a crucial one, a player like Johnson could prove the difference.
