Peter Odemwingie has been a free agent since his release from Stoke at the end of the 15/16 season, and has enjoyed spells at sides like West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff.

Odemwingie is perhaps most known for the infamous transfer deadline day debacle when he turned up at Loftus Road to push through a move to QPR from West Brom, only for it to conspire that West Brom hadn't agreed a deal to let him go.

Odemwingie impressed at Lokomotiv Moscow to earn a move to Premier League West Brom and impressed reaching double figures in his first 2 seasons.

But his career fell apart when he left unsuccessful spells at Cardiff and Stoke, and spent last season on loan at Bristol City before his release.

Leeds have built a good squad this season and with Garry Monk at the helm, they'll hope for a top 6 challenge.....

Here are THREE reasons they should sign Odemwingie on a free transfer.....

Experience

The Nigerian born international certainly has a lot of experience and a lot of it at the top level of English football.

He has played for 3 Premier League clubs and amassed well over 100 appearances, picking up accolades lie the Premier League African Player of the Year in 2011.

He did well for West Brom and has also represented Nigeria well over the years at World Cups.

He could be the experienced player Leeds United are crying out for.

Adds depth

The player played in numerous positions during his career and is used as a winger quite a lot as opposed to a central striker.

Leeds do have a problem with depth in midfield and their wingers lack consistency with Dallas often injured, plus Sacko and Hernandez proving somewhat inconsistent.

Also on the right side where he operates, there aren't many options - Odemwingie could be an excellent cover option.

Decent goal scoring record

If used as a striker, he does have a good record in plenty of different countries.

After starting off well in Nigeria he had successes elsewhere, before being signed by West Brom.

He was one of the season's biggest surprise packages scoring 15 goals in his first year.

He followed that up with 10 the next season but struggled afterwards.

If Odemwingie could get a string of games at Leeds United under Garry Monk, he could rekindle the form he showcased in his early years at the Baggies.
