Strong rumours surfaced this week that Manchester City are monitoring the progress of Swansea wideman Daniel James, potentially putting the James to Leeds rumours to bed once and for all.

James, who scored against Manchester City in the FA Cup recently, will reportedly be a surprise £7m target for Guardiola’s men in the summer.

The Welsh international had an exciting international break last weekend, playing a huge part in a positive week for Ryan Giggs’ Wales side.

Before the links to City, it seemed certain that Leeds would go back in for James in the summer.

While this may still happen, here are three reasons why Leeds should forget about signing James after the recent developments.

The idea of playing for Pep Guardiola will be too hard to turn down

If Manchester City came knocking, the proposition for Daniel James to be coached by Guardiola could be too hard for him to turn down.

Whether it would be the right decision or not is another idea, but it would give Leeds a lesser chance of signing him.

City will offer more money

Obviously, if Leeds were up against City for the signing of James, the latter would offer more money.

Swansea would rather sell to City than Leeds who may be a direct rival, too.

They will loan him out

You wouldn’t imagine James would play every week for City, so he’d almost certainly be loaned out.

This could give Leeds a chance of getting him on loan, but Swansea may ask for him back.
