After winning promotion via the play-offs last season, Charlton Athletic have made a fantastic start to the new season under Lee Bowyer.
The Addicks are unbeaten in the Championship this season and currently sit second in the league table after winning four of their opening six matches.
Bowyer was able to guide Charlton to promotion last term in his first full season as a manager and he decided to sign a new contract at The Valley earlier this summer, just when it looked as though he was about to leave the club.
The 42-year-old was also recently linked with the vacant managerial role at Huddersfield Town - which has since been filled by Danny Cowley - but decided to remain loyal to the club that gave him his first chance in management.
In a recent interview with talkSPORT, Bowyer revealed that he was tempted by the Huddersfield job, but admitted that he could not turn his back on Charlton and insisted that staying at The Valley is the best decision for his career.
Here are three reasons why Bowyer's recent comments will please Charlton fans...
It shows loyalty
Bowyer admitted that he was tempted by the chance to manage Huddersfield, but insisted that he could not turn his back on Charlton.
He insisted that staying at Charlton was the right thing to do and that it would have been wrong for him to leave the club where he started his playing career and that gave him his first opportunity in management.
While Bowyer did admit that there will eventually come a time where he will leave the club, he insisted that when the time comes, it will have to take something big to persuade him to walk away from The Valley.
This shows how much the club means to him personally and his loyalty will no doubt please Charlton supporters, as it isn't something that you see too often in football anymore.
It shows ambition
Bowyer insisted that remaining at Charlton is the best decision for his career and that shows great ambition.
He's clearly very proud of what he's achieved at The Valley over the past year and seems determined to achieve more success with the club.
After what he achieved last season, it would have been easy for Bowyer to walk away, but he didn't. He obviously feels that there is more to be accomplished and that to walk away now would leave him with some unfinished business.
Bowyer is building something special at Charlton and he could be the man to take the club to the next level.
It shows Charlton are a big club
Realistically, there are plenty of reasons why Bowyer could have been tempted to leave Charlton for Huddersfield. This is clear, otherwise Cowley wouldn't have left Lincoln City to take charge of the Terriers after everything he achieved at Sincil Bank.
Huddersfield were in the Premier League last season, so Bowyer would have had a lot more money to spend on players and would have been on significantly higher wages.
However, Bowyer is determined to achieve more success with Charlton and the fact that he turned down the chance to join Huddersfield shows that they are just as big a club.
Bowyer obviously feels that Charlton have a better chance of returning to the Premier League and that he could be the man to take them there.
