Unsurprisingly, Jarrod Bowen was on the scoresheet yet again for Hull in the Tigers’ impressive 3-0 victory at Fulham on Saturday.

The 22-year old is currently the joint-third top-scorer in the Championship this season, with only Alexsandar Mitrovic and Ollie Watkins amassing more goals than Bowen.

Last week, it was reported that Bowen had been offered a new three-year deal in order to fend off any potential January interest for the winger.

There is no doubt Bowen’s performances could well attract Premier League interest, and even with a £20M price-tag it is hard to see no Premier League clubs coming in for him.

One former England striker however believes one Championship team should go all out for the former Halifax Town man, in January.

Kevin Phillips said on QuestTV on Saturday, that Bowen could be the missing piece to Marcelo Bielsa’s jigsaw and if United were to add him to their ranks they would be “unstoppable”.

This prospect could be mouth-watering for United fans, however it could be a step too far in United’s transfers ambitions.

Here we take a look at three reasons why this could be unrealistic for the Whites…

Financial Fair Play

United’s director of football Victor Orta has made no secret of the fact United are sticking rigorously to Financial Fair Play.

Orta described the rules as restrictive for United and is the main impacts behind United’s decision to opt for loan signings such as Helder Costa this term.

It would be hard to envisage United breaking this strategy midway through the season and would probably opt for permanent signings should the club gain promotion to the Premier League.

Given these apparent restraints to United’s transfer activity it is hard to envisage United spending a minimum of £20M on a fellow Championship player and may look again into the loan market or a cheaper deal.

Hull will be unlikely to sell to a Championship rival

If the Tigers find some consistency, they could be in with a real chance of staging a play-off push.

They currently sit just three points behind sixth-placed Bristol City and have won their last three matches and in doing so are establishing themselves in the mix for a play-off place.

Should this continue to be the case it would be unlikely that they would sell their prized asset to a potential promotion rival especially a Yorkshire one such as Leeds.

In putting a deal on the table last week, The Tigers have shown their intent on keeping Bowen, and it would be hard to see them selling him to another Championship side.

If the player was to leave, he may favour a move to the Premier League

If for whatever reason Leeds to find themselves in a negotiation position with Bowen then there will be doubt that he could have offers on the table from Premier League clubs.

It would be justifiable to predict that Bowen would choose a Premier League club over United should there be offers on the table.

Bowen, has recently been linked with a move to Newcastle United and should he have the choice between Leeds or a Premier League club, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the winger choose the latter.
