After a terrific campaign thus far, Joe Worrall is reportedly set to put pen to paper on a new deal with Nottingham Forest.
The 23-year-old has been at the heart of the Reds’ push for promotion this term, making a total of 34 appearances in all competitions and establishing himself as a key player under Sabri Lamouchi.
The defender spent last season on loan at Rangers, gaining real experience and becoming a much more mature, and all-round better player following his return to his boyhood club.
Worrall’s current deal on Trentside isn’t set to run out until 2022, but to extend his stay at the City Ground is still a massive piece of business by the club.
Here, we take a look at three reasons as to why this update as a massive piece of news for Nottingham Forest…
First and foremost, Worrall is a quality defender and has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Championship this season.
He is 23 years of age but already possesses so many leadership qualities, he wears his heart on his sleeve and defenders find it incredibly tough to play against him and Tobias Figueiredo.
He is only going to get better and better as seasons go by, and by securing this fresh agreement, Forest will ensure that they are going to reap the rewards of his growth and development.

His price tag
Adding even more length onto Worrall’s deal will only increase his price tag and valuation.
Sheffield United, Arsenal and Norwich City were all linked with the defender over the course of the January transfer window, and they would have had to cough up huge amounts of money to sign him.
Getting him to sign a new deal will only increase his value even more, so if somebody wants to come in and sign him, then Forest will receive a lot of money for his signature.
Of course, the club and the fans will be desperate to keep hold of him forever, but every player has a price, and Worrall’s will be very high due to this new contract.
It is a stressful period for Forest fans at the minute, as they pray to see their side win promotion to the Premier League.
The latter stages of a season are always nervy, and a 2-0 win over Leeds followed up by a 1-0 home defeat to Charlton certainly doesn’t help that.
But after a disappointing midweek result, this piece of news could give fans a massive boost and get them back on side, somewhat.
This piece of news is massive heading into what is a huge game against West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
