After a dismal start, Huddersfield Town's season has finally come to life. Seven points from the last possible nine have seen the Terriers move out of the Championship relegation zone.

The Terriers travel to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday with the Cowley's looking to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.

In a week where Turkish newspaper Sabah linked one Town man with a move to Fenerbahce, Terriers' fans will be buoyed by their side's recent upturn in performances.

Florent Hadergjonaj has not featured for Town since their 4-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion in September and has seen competition for his place since the arrival of experienced right-back Danny Simpson.

Hadergjonaj, who has featured eight times this season for Town, will be hoping his return to the first team is not too far away.

Whilst Simpson has started the last two matches in which Town have won and kept clean sheets there are still reasons for Town to keep hold of Hadergjonaj.

Here we take a look at three key reasons why the club should look to keep him in West Yorkshire, despite these emerging transfer reports...

A club favourite

Florent Hadergjonaj has turned out for the Terriers 55 times in the league and although their second stint in the Premier League was one to forget, he played 23 and 24 times respectively in Town's two top flight campaigns.

Joining Town initially on loan in the 2017-2018 season from Ingolstadt 04, he impressed fans with his calm defensive displays and chipped in with the odd assist.

At the end of that season he scooped the Players' Young Player of the Year award and the club's President Prize, confirming the impact he had made in his opening stint at the John Smith's Stadium.

Although last season was a uphill battle for Town, Hadergjonaj has been one of the few shining lights for the Yorkshire side over the last few seasons.

A more than capable replacement for Danny Simpson

Simpson was probably the type of player Town could of done with amongst their ranks last season.

The former Manchester United man boasts a wealth of Premier League experience including being part of the Leicester City side who won the Premier League in 2016.

Even so, after his release from the Foxes, Simpson would have been a satisfying signing at a host of Championship clubs.

Simpson, who so far has done his bit in tightening up Town's back-line is already, arguably passed his prime years and while he does bring experience to the side he is only contract until the end of this season.

Hadergjonaj will naturally fill in for Simpson whilst Cowley is still assessing his squad, and despite his contract only running until 2021, will be seen as the more long term option.

Top-flight experience with Town

Although the Championship is only 11 games old it would be bold to predict The Terriers returning to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

Despite this however, if Town retain their Championship status this term, promotion back to the Premier League will be something the club will be looking to press on with.

With this long-term thinking in mind, keeping a player such as Hadergjonaj at the John Smith's Stadium would be vital in Town's quest for promotion.

Not only does he possess top flight experience, he knows what it would take to retain Town's place in the Premier League.

At only 25 and with nearly 50 Premier League appearances for the club on his belt, Huddersfield may look back and regret not keeping hold of the player if they were to let him go.
