Following their 4-2 demolition of Sky Bet Championship high-flyers Reading on Saturday, Fulham manager Kit Symons will want his side to start looking up the Championship table, and possibly get into the promotion picture.

Moussa Dembele
Moussa Dembele could be an important player if Fulham are to reach the top six

This will no doubt delight the Fulham fans, who were calling for him to be sacked earlier in the week. However, whether they can actually do it remains a question.

Here are three reasons why they could achieve a top six finish this season:

1) The form of Moussa Dembele

The youngster is reportedly being targeted by the likes of Bayern Munich, and is the Whites' top scorer this season.

He grabbed two goals against Reading yesterday, including a neat finish after linking up well with Ross McCormack, and also getting an assist when he played in Alex Kacaniklic, who duly finished.

If Fulham keep hold of the prospect, they could well reach the Play-offs, or go beyond.

2) Kit Symons getting those tactical decisions right

Fulham set up perfectly against Reading, and more of the same will be needed if Fulham are to go up or even claim a serious stake for the Play-offs.

The traditional 4-4-2 came to life when Kacaniklic replaced Jazz Richards in the first half, and his pace on the break was vital.

It allowed Dembele to drop in behind McCormack and subsequently adapt a more creative role, which contributed to the last three goals.

If Symons can continue to get the best out of these players, then Fulham's attacking play will be a serious handful to many Championship defences.

3) Going all-out from the whistle

The main criticism of Fulham this season has been that they only really come alive when they go behind or concede, leaving themselves an awful lot to do.

This was the case against the Royals, and Lucas Piazon's goal triggered a change in momentum, and when Orlando Sa got a second against the run of play, Fulham went all out. They were able to get themselves back into this one, mainly through a combination of good play and woeful Reading defending. But it won't happen every week.

If they did this from the start, they could surprise a few people this season.
