The 2015/16 SkyBet League Two season was a memorable one for Bristol Rovers as they recorded their first ever back-to-back promotion in the club's history.

Darrell Clarke was the focal point of Rovers' double promotion as the club's boss and has unsurprisingly become a fan favourite.

His ability to adapt to any opposition is very admirable in addition to his love and passion for the club.

The dramatic last minute winner on the last day of the 2015/16 season was enough to see Bristol Rovers leapfrog Accrington Stanley and secure the third and final automatic promotion place to League One.

The scenes that followed the goals was a sight to behold and the day will certainly live long in the memory of all the gasheads who were fortunate to witness the game.

Nevertheless, Rovers cannot simply dwell on past successes. Instead, they need to kick on and tackle the next league that faces them - League One.

The move up to League One is certainly a significant step up for the majority of teams who get promoted from League 2. Not least of all Bristol Rovers players who, last season, had the most part of their squad only playing in the Football League for the first time.

As a result, the task in front of them looks to be one of great difficulty. However, with the right signings and keeping their best players, Rovers could quite easily see another season of success unfold when the 2016/17 season kicks off.

Under Darrell Clarke and new owner Wael Al-Qadi, Rovers will believe they can really start to go places.

Here areTHREE reasons why Darrell Clarke could lead Bristol Rovers to glory next season...

Club ambition

After the club was taken over by Wael Al-Qadi, a Jordanian billionaire, early in 2016, the west country club has been injected with a much needed sense of ambition.

Yes, of course, money is a big factor in any club's future but Al-Qadi looks to be doing much more than throwing money at the first team.

Plans to build an all-seater stadium look to be moving along very nicely and it is believed that the building of the stadium will begin once all issues have been resolved. In addition, Al-Qadi has reiterated the idea of working from the club up from the youth with a good academy system.

As a result, all of these factors only point Rovers in one direction, forward. The takeover earlier this year really does look to be putting Rovers in a great position to go and achieve success next season under Darrell Clarke.

Financial backing

It is all well and good having ambition as a club, but there needs to be money available to bring in the very best players the club can buy.

Rovers have always been known as the typical lower league club who is forced to sell on their best players for an inviting fee. The likes of Rickie Lambert best highlight that given his £1m move to Southampton in 2008.

However, the financial backing Rovers now have under Wael Al-Qadi means that they will be in a better position to keep hold of their top players. The likes of Tom Lockyer, arguably two of Rovers' best players, have signed contracts with the club in recent week to secure their future, showing just how strong Rovers now are in the financial department.

Perhaps the biggest situation which will determine this factor one way or the other is that of Matty Taylor. After scoring 28 goals last season to guide the Pirates to promotion, Darrell Clarke is desperate to keep him at the club.

The club say they have offered Taylor a 'generous' new deal to try and cement his services for a vital season in League One.

The financial backing of the club will certainly work in the favour of Darrell Clarke who has already done tremendous things with very little to spend. Therefore, he could quite easily take the club on to that next level with money behind him.

Passionate manager

Darrell Clarke

I've touched on this before in the piece but it is very difficult to not mention Darrell Clarke's passion as a reason why he could endure more success with Rovers.

It takes an incredibly tough and passionate manager to achieve back to back promotions but Darrell Clarke fits that name better than anyone.

From drunken speeches to fans in the local pub, to the memorable pictures on the final day of last season, Clarke has definitely shown his passion for the club since he took charge in 2014.

Therefore, that passion can only work as a positive factor for the Rovers boss and success could most likely come as a result of that passion for the club.
