The 2015/16 SkyBet League Two season was a memorable one for Bristol Rovers as they recorded their first ever back-to-back promotion in the club’s history.
Darrell Clarke was the focal point of Rovers’ double promotion as the club’s boss and has unsurprisingly become a fan favourite.
His ability to adapt to any opposition is very admirable in addition to his love and passion for the club.
The dramatic last minute winner on the last day of the 2015/16 season was enough to see Bristol Rovers leapfrog Accrington Stanley and secure the third and final automatic promotion place to League One.
The scenes that followed the goals was a sight to behold and the day will certainly live long in the memory of all the gasheads who were fortunate to witness the game.
Nevertheless, Rovers cannot simply dwell on past successes. Instead, they need to kick on and tackle the next league that faces them – League One.
The move up to League One is certainly a significant step up for the majority of teams who get promoted from League 2. Not least of all Bristol Rovers players who, last season, had the most part of their squad only playing in the Football League for the first time.
As a result, the task in front of them looks to be one of great difficulty. However, with the right signings and keeping their best players, Rovers could quite easily see another season of success unfold when the 2016/17 season kicks off.
Under Darrell Clarke and new owner Wael Al-Qadi, Rovers will believe they can really start to go places.
