Lincoln City left-back Harry Toffolo is a target for Danny Cowley as he seeks to bring in new faces at Huddersfield Town this transfer window.

The Huddersfield Examiner reported on Wednesday that Cowley is keen on a reunion with Toffolo who he signed for the Imps during his time at Lincoln City.

The 24-year-old has made 84 appearances for the Imps since arriving at the club in 2018, and now it seems Cowley wants to sign the left-back for a second time.

Town have already added Richard Stearman and Emile Smith Rowe to their ranks this window and seem keen to press on with more signings.

Here we take a look at three reasons why Toffolo joining Town would make perfect sense for Huddersfield in this month's transfer window.

Town are thin in the left-back department

Town's only fully fit first team left-back is 20-year-old Jaden Brown and whilst Brown has impressed when he has turned out for the Terriers, the club are lacking in the left-back department.

Right-back Florent Hadergjonaj has filled in at left-back and performed admirably but might not be the suitable long-term option going forward.

Toffolo would certainly fit the bill in this department and would be a safe bet in cementing a first team spot with Brown as back-up.

Cowley is a big fan of the 24-year-old

Danny Cowley bought Toffolo to Lincoln in 2018 and the left-back was a main stay in Cowley's side during their League Two title winning season and the start of this term.

Having flirted around the lower leagues for most of his career, Toffolo has represented eight different clubs already but Town could be the perfect destination to take his career to the next level.

Cowley will know how to get the best out of the 24-year-old and would be willing to show faith in the left-back as Town look to steer clear of the Championship relegation zone.

He could be one to watch in the future.

It feels that Toffolo has been around for a long time and is sometimes easy to forget the left-back is still only 24.

Toffolo has amassed over 140 appearances across League One and Two over the last few seasons and whilst he only has a handful of Championship appearances to his name, he could be a player that plays a big part for Huddersfield Town in the upcoming seasons.

Lincoln may only command a small fee for Toffolo, but it could be an investment worthwhile for Town, should the 24-year-old continue to build on some impressive showings for the Terriers.
