After enjoying a hugely successful 2018/19 campaign at Swansea City, it is looking increasingly likely that Dan James will be joining Manchester United in the coming days.

According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old has reportedly been granted permission by Wales to leave their training camp in order to complete a medical ahead of a £17m move to the Red Devils.

Relatively unheard of 18 months ago, James' rise to prominence has been mightily impressive and therefore it wouldn't be at all surprising if he takes the Premier League by storm.

With this in mind, here are three reasons why we think the winger could flourish at Old Trafford next season...

He has no fear

Whereas the likes of Angel Di Maria and Memphis Depay both crumbled under the pressure of expectations after making big money moves to United, the fact that James plays with no fear could put him in good stead ahead of his top-flight bow.

An incredibly gifted player, the Welshman set the Championship alight last season with his lightning-quick pace whilst his killer instincts in the final third culminated in him being directly involved in 15 goals for Swansea in all competitions.

Having taken everything in his stride during his career to date, there is no reason why he won't be able to make the step up in level if he continues to display a positive attitude both on, and off the pitch.

He possesses an outstanding level of versatility

Although there is no doubting that James' best performances for Swansea have come from being deployed as a left-winger, his flexibility has allowed him to thrive in several other roles over the past 11 months.

Therefore, with the Red Devils already having the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford in his position, James may have to use his experiences at Swansea to try and nail down a place in the starting eleven in a different area.

When you consider that the right-hand side of midfield has been quite a problem for United in recent seasons, the Swansea ace should be targeting it if his move is completed as expected.

He can use previous adversity to his advantage

Given that James was just moments away from joining Leeds United in January before Swansea dramatically walked away from agreeing a deal on transfer deadline day (via the Telegraph), it would have been easy for him to spend the rest of the campaign sulking about his side's decision.

However, the midfielder instead used the adversity as inspiration to take his game to new heights as he scored three goals and provided five assists for the Jacks.

If he can continue to display such a fantastic mentality with the Red Devils over the coming years, James will give himself the best chance of becoming the latest Welsh star to make a superb impact at Old Trafford, following in the foot-steps of Ryan Giggs and Mark Hughes.
