Barnsley are in for an interesting and potentially hectic week as the transfer deadline edges ever closer to closing this month.

There has been speculation linking the club's key players with a move away, with Kieffer Moore emerging as the latest player to be attracting interest from Sunderland according to the Northern Echo.

Daniel Stendel has done a fine job for Barnsley since he took charge, and the Tykes have put themselves in a strong position for an immediate return to the Championship.

But they could do with some additional depth in their squad as they look to challenge for an automatic promotion place, and they could benefit from signing an out-of-favour Leeds United defender.

Aapo Halme has been hugely impressive for Leeds when called upon, but is unlikely to see much game time for the remainder of  this year's campaign due to the injury crisis at Elland Road nearing an end.

We look at the reasons why Halme would be a good signing for Stendel's side.

See what those reasons are, below....

Halme has a point to prove

Halme might be one of the most exciting talents to come out of Leeds' under 23's side this season, but he needs to be given regular game time at this stage of his career.

He is yet to go out on loan in his career, and would benefit from the experience of playing regularly in senior football in England.

A successful loan move would certainly give Marcelo Bielsa a selection headache next season as Halme looks to secure a place in the Leeds first-team.

He has an exiting future ahead of him

Halme is a raw talent that has been hugely impressive for the Leeds first-team when needed for Bielsa's side in their injury crisis.

The youngster hasn't looked out of place at all in the Whites first-team and Barnsley could be the perfect platform for Halme to develop as a player.

A successful loan spell at Oakwell could be the start of something special for the promising youngster.

He could be the perfect replacement for Pinnock

There has been speculation linking Ethan Pinnock with a move to Brentford, and he could certainly be tempted by a move to the Championship side.

Barnsley would need to act fast in finding a replacement for the defender, and Halme could be the perfect short-term solution to that potential void in the Barnsley side.
