There have been a number of names linked to the managerial vacancy at QPR following Steve McClaren’s dismissal earlier this week.

The likes of Gary Rowett, Tim Sherwood and Michael Appleton have all been linked with a move to Loftus Road according to West London Sport.

But Charlton boss, Lee Bowyer is the latest manager to have his name thrown into the ring (according to Sky Sports) as speculation continues to mount over who the Hoops will look to appoint.

The former Newcastle and Leeds United midfielder has been hugely impressive in his first managerial spell with the Addicks.

He has taken his side into the play-off positions and will surely be keen to finish the job he has started with Charlton as they look to return to the Championship.

QPR will be hoping to find McClaren’s successor in the near future though, as they look to save themselves from slipping further into relegation trouble with just seven games remaining of the season.

We look at the reasons why Bowyer would be the perfect appointment for QPR this season.

He’d be able to attract high-quality players to the club

Bowyer has made a name for himself as a player and that reputation is likely to see him attracting big name players to Loftus Road in the future.

Players will want to work under a well-known face who can get the best out of them, and Bowyer can certainly do that.

He’s proven that he can cut it in management

Bowyer will have had his doubters when he was appointed as Charlton’s boss on a permanent basis, but he’s silenced those critics this season.

The Addicks weren’t one of the favourites to be challenging for promotion, but under Bowyer’s guidance, they look like a force to be reckoned with.

It’s a gamble worth taking

Although Bowyer is into the early stages of his managerial career, he will certainly be pleased with the progress he has made in such a short space of time.

Appointing him would be a gamble for QPR, especially given that they are in the middle of a relegation dogfight.

But sometimes, you have to take a gamble, as it could pay-off in the long-term, which is what supporters will be keen to see at Loftus Road.
