Perennial underachiever Henri Lansbury has been tipped to be the man to replace Jack Grealish when he inevitably leaves in the summer.

Lansbury, who signed for Villa in 2017, looked like he was going to be a star in the side, but failed to live up to expectations.

He has missed a lot of football through injuries, but also a lot through simple refusal to select him.

It looks a certainty that Grealish will leave, and while Lansbury could shoulder a little of the burden, he is certainly not the direct replacement Villa need.

Here, we look at three reasons why Lansbury is not the option and Villa should do better in the transfer window.

Do you agree, Villa fans, or do you think Lansbury can step up? Let us know in the comments.

He would’ve stepped up by now

If Lansbury was the replacement for Grealish, why didn’t he prove that when Grealish was out injured?

He could’ve stepped up and seriously staked a claim, but he didn’t.

Doesn’t have the right attitude

A lot of questions have to be asked about Lansbury’s attitude.

In his defence, Smith may not have given him enough chances to prove himself, but Lansbury seems to have attitude problems from the outset.

Unfit

Lansbury hasn’t had a run of games in over a year now, and he is probably extremely unfit.

Grealish plays a demanding physical role, and I’m unsure whether Lansbury can live up to this.
