It's a new era for West Brom with Slaven Bilic having been confirmed as the Baggies new boss last week.

Bringing in the Croatian was a real coup for the Championship side and has increased the optimism amongst supporters ahead of next season.

However, it's clear that Bilic has a lot of work to do in terms of reshaping his squad over the coming months and it's likely several key player and high earners will leave.

But, the ex-West Ham man will have his own targets and Turkish media outlet Fanatik claim that midfielder Tolgay Arslan is a target. The 28-year-old played under Bilic for Besiktas back in 2015 and has since moved on to Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce.

Having played for German side Hamburg as well as the two Turkish giants it's fair to say Arslan has decent pedigree and here we look at THREE reasons why bringing the midfielder to The Hawthorns would be smart...

Albion need new midfielders

With experienced duo James Morrison and Gareth Barry expected to leave the club when their contracts expire and Stefan Johansen returning to Fulham after his loan finished, it's fair to say midfield reinforcements will be needed.

There's also doubts about Rekeem Harper's future as well. So, new players in that position will be required and Arslan would add a lot to the team.

He knows the manager

As mentioned, Arslan has played under Bilic in the past which means he knows exactly what the player will add to the team and also the group in terms of his mentality.

Promotion is the aim for Albion next season and the new manager knows that, so going with someone he knows will be a safer option than gambling on someone else.

He could thrive in the Championship

Perhaps most importantly, Arslan is a good player!

He has been a regular in the Turkish top-flight for the last few years and competed in Europe with Besiktas, so he should be able to adapt to the second-tier in England with relative ease.

Arslan is a reliable, strong performer and would be a certain starter for what could be a new-look West Brom.
