Hull City are looking to bolster their forward line in the January transfer window.

According to reports from Bristol Live,  the Tigers are eyeing up the possibility of a loan switch for Bristol City forward Sammie Szmodics ahead of a crucial second half of the season.

The 24-year-old has found first team opportunities hard to come by since arriving at Ashton Gate from Colchester United over the summer.

Szmodics ended a 16-year-old connection with his hometown club in order to move to the Championship side, however things haven't quite worked out for the forward.

He has made just two appearances in the Championship for Bristol City, leading to speculation that he could move on in search of more regular gametime.

But what would Szmodics bring to Hull City? We take a look at the reasons why it could be a good move.

His record in front of goal

Sammie Szmodics certainly has a strong goalscoring record to shout about.

The 24-year-old scored 15 goals for Colchester United last term, alerting Bristol City to his undoubted potential to perform at a higher level.

If he can bring a similar tally to Hull City then supporters would be very happy.

A real team player

As well as scoring plenty of goals, Szmodics is no stranger to teeing up his teammates.

The forward contributed nine assists for Colchester United last term, making him one of the most effective players in the final third.

Hull City need a player who can make an all-round impact and Szmodics might just be the man to do so.

A hunger to succeed in the Championship

At 24 years of age there's no doubt that Sammie Szmodics' best years are very much ahead of him.

Things haven't worked out so far at Bristol City, but the opportunity to play more regular football at Hull City could be just what he needs to adapt at this level.

For the Tigers, if they can offer him that opportunity while reaping the benefits of his excellent record, then it could be win-win.
