Charlton Athletic will face Burton Albion this evening without two influential players amongst the squad, reports London News Online.

Jonny Williams and Krystian Bielik both came off during the impressive 2-1 victory against Portsmouth at the weekend and are now confirmed to be out of the clash with Nigel Clough's Brewers.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer said: “Jonny and Krystian are going for scans. We’re a little bit hopeful that Krystian’s is not too bad but he won’t be involved tomorrow, we don’t think. Jonny is maybe two to three weeks, so he is worse than Krystian."

It's a huge blow to Bowyer, who has seen his side close the gap on Pompey to just two points.

The automatic promotion spots might be just out of reach, they're ten points away, but even so Charlton will be striving to accumulate as many points as possible.

Losing the two players is a big blow, here are three reasons why.

Jonny Williams is a tricky, creative player and he'll be sorely missed driving forward.

Having lost Karlan Grant, they need an extra element to their attack and Williams was providing that.

[snack_break title="Bielik's hard work"]

Bielik has been a key player on loan from Arsenal this season.

He's versatile and can fill a number of positions, but most of all his endeavour in the middle of the park has been crucial.

They'll need to find someone to cover that, something that hasn't been easy during his recent suspension.

Despite their good form, the squad at Charlton isn't as deep as some of the other challengers.

To lose two key players is tough, it means a couple of the reserves get a chance.

Covering one isn't too much of a blow, but two? it throws out the structure and cohesion they've built up and leaves a slightly less coordinated approach.
