Portsmouth have had an upturn in form in recent weeks, but manager Kenny Jackett is still under pressure after the poor start to the season.

The Pompey supporters have been less than impressed with the boss, and after the heavy defeat to local rivals, Southampton, many wanted the manager to go.

However, since then he's won a couple of games which included a last minute winner over a strong Doncaster team last weekend.

Portsmouth take on Gillingham this weekend aiming to make it three wins in a row for the south-coast side.

Here are THREE reasons Portsmouth are right to stick with Kenny Jackett...

Stability is key

Stability at any club is vital, and especially at a club who is looking to achieve big things in a league campaign. They were unlucky last season not to be promoted and this seems to have had a backlash on the fanbase.

They have to stick with him, otherwise they may suffer more in the near future and that could affect their hopes of a successful season on the pitch.

Form isn't bad

The form actually isn't that bad, and it's surprising to see Jackett under so much pressure especially with the current league table.

They've won their last two fixtures and have been good defensively in recent times since the defeat to Southampton. It was almost a wake-up call and since then they've looked structurally more solid.

Alongside that, they are in a good position due to the games in hand that they have over other sides and if they win them then they would sit just outside the play-offs and that would see Portsmouth fans with egg on their face.

Replacements

Who else is out there if they were to sack him? That's the key question and that could come back to haunt them if they were to get rid of Jackett.

They need to have a strong think as to whether there are any candidates out there who could do a better job than the manager that is currently in charge.
