Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in 2004 and since then Elland Road has seen everything but excitement.

The Whites have had a terrible decade or so but for the first time in years, there is a real sense of excitement around the club.

Argentinian tactician Marcelo Bielsa is the boss and as well as a unique playing style, he has instilled a sense of confidence and belief that is rubbing off.

Leeds have started the season on fine form and are challenging for automatic promotion.

For that reason, the next six months promises to be exciting.

Here, we look at the THREE reasons why Leeds fans should believe and for once be excited about the year ahead.

Agree, or do you think it’s false excitement? Let us know in the comments.

Of the pre-season promotion favourites, Leeds have already visited a large proportion of these - Derby, Swansea, Norwich, West Brom and Sheffield United.

The fixtures in 2019 could serve well for Leeds and make any potential run-ins for promotion easier than other teams may have.

Promotion is on.

For the first time in well over a decade, Leeds look worthy of promotion, and the idea of that is enough for Leeds fans to get excited.

By the end of 2019, Bielsa will have another year under his belt and hopefully, for Leeds, have more of his own players.

When a manager with such innovative coaching methods comes along, it normally takes a while to settle in – see Pep Guardiola at City for example – so Leeds should be excited for things to come.
