Very few will have heard of Jos Luhukay before his appointment as manager of Sheffield Wednesday in January of this year.

The Dutchman had previously been managing in the German Bundesliga and became the Owls second overseas manager in their history with the first being the man that he replaced, Carlos Carvalhal.

But Luhukay and his unmistakable moustache had a rough start to life in England, disappointing many fans in his first half-season in charge of the club with some lacklustre displays, lack of points, and generally unentertaining style of football.

This season though, his first full one in charge of Wednesday, has seen moments of quality from his team mixed with the inevitable dips in consistency, that has become such a common phenomenon at Hillsborough in recent history.

Here we take a look at three reasons why the flying Dutchman has been proving the doubters wrong at Sheffield Wednesday...

The Owls are proving to be a tough nut to crack at their historic Hillsborough stadium. Seven teams have come to Sheffield Wednesday this season and just the one, Middlesbrough last Friday, have managed to go away with all three points.

Both West Brom and Leeds United have had to settle for a draw whilst playing away to Wednesday this season, making Hillsborough one of the hardest grounds to come to in the League.

Sheffield Wednesday have scored 20 goals in 13 games so far this season, the joint-fourth most of any team in the Championship.

Both Lucas Joao and fan-favourite Adam Reach have reached (pardon the pun) five-goals apiece already this term, which when compared to Atdhe Nuhiu's record of eleven goals last season which made him the highest-scorer at the club, turns impressive.

Like several teams in the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday have been forced to rely on loan-deals and youth promotions to bolster their squad, due to a distinct lack of funding being put into the club.

Josh Onomah and Michael Hector have joined on season-long loans from Spurs and Chelsea respectively, whilst the likes of Ash Baker and Matthew Penney have been brought into the first team from below.
