Blackburn Rovers picked up their third win of the Championship season on Saturday, dispatching Millwall with ease in a 2-0 win at Ewood Park.

Goals from Derrick Williams and Bradley Dack were enough to see off the Lions and bump Tony Mowbray's side to within three points of the play-off places.

But despite things going well, the club are seemingly not satisfied.

The Lancashire Telegraph reported on Monday that the club had reignited their interest in former Tottenhm and Hamburg midfielder Lewis Holtby.

The 28-year-old became a free agent after a summer move to Besiktas fell through.

So, here are THREE reasons why Mowbray and co. must push to complete the deal as soon as possible...

Value

This is a deal that is incredible value.

Holtby may not have reached the heights once expected of him but he still has a vast amount of experience at the top level of football throughout Europe.

Not many sides in the Championship can boast that and it could them a real edge in a potential push for the play-off places.

Motivation

Blackburn are not short in the central midfield department.

Bradley Johnson, Lewis Travis, Corry Evans and Joe Rothwell are all options to Mowbray, but none of the four are yet to really nail down the role.

If nothing else, bringing in somebody like Holtby should kick them into gear and, potentially, lead to some real quality emerging for the roles.

Point to prove

After his time with Spurs ended in disappointment, Holtby will have left England with a sense of unfulfillment.

A move back to the country would offer him the opportunity to really prove any remaining doubters wrong regarding his ability to cut it.

Granted, it is a league lower, but there is no season as intention as the Championship's, so he will have every reason to play to the very best of his ability.
