Reading have endured a torrid time in their opening 12 league matches this season - winning just two which see Paul Clement's side sit 21st in the league table.

Clement was appointed as Royals boss in March 2018 but has struggled to turn his side's poor run of form around in that time - which has led to speculation regarding the former Swansea manager's future.

That speculation is fully justified as well, with Clement having a win percentage of just 23% during his time at the Berkshire-based club.

Bolton boss Phil Parkinson has been linked with the Reading job recently and it will come as no surprise to Royals fans to see his name linked with the job.

Parkinson made 361 appearances for Reading in a spell at the club which lasted 11 years. He became a firm fans favourite amongst supporters and they will be keen to see their former player return as manager of the club.

Find out three reasons why Parkinson is the perfect replacement for Paul Clement here....

Despite Bolton being amongst the favourites to be relegated in recent seasons, Parkinson has shown that he has the managerial ability to keep his side in the Championship.

That is why Reading fans will be confident that he is the man to rescue them from their downward spiral, which is edging them ever closer to the relegation places this season.

With Parkinson being such a fans favourite at Reading it would be an ideal replacement for fans who would be keen to see the Bolton boss return to the Madejski Stadium for a spell as manager.

After spending 11 years at Reading during his playing career, Parkinson would struggle to not be tempted to take over the managerial hot seat at the club.

Reading have been a surprise disappointment this season. Many supporters would have expected the club to bounce back from a poor campaign last season, but they have done the exact opposite.

With Clement's side sat 21st in the table, there is certainly room for improvement and Parkinson could bring some much needed passion into the side-which has been lacking for a number of seasons at Reading.
