Millwall have exceeded all expectations in the Championship under Neil Harris this season, with the Lions maintaining an outside chance of an unlikely play-off finish as the season counts down to its final weeks.

The south Londoners have been exceptional all season having been touted by many to be prime candidates for relegation having sneaked into the second tier via the play-offs, but a series of shrewd acquisitions in the summer transfer window has ensured that the club have remained competitive during this first season back at the higher level.

A top six finish is a real possibility given the club’s current form but a dream Premier League debut remains a long way off, and Harris will harbour realistic expectations of building over the summer to challenge for promotion once again next term.

With that in mind, this trio could emerge as realistic key targets for the man who once led the line at The Den…

Wouldn’t this be contentious but a transfer that is actually quite conceivable?

Should Collins cross the divide between the fierce rivals then this would surely go down as one of the most contentious transfers of all time, however this deal makes a lot of sense for all involved.

The Welshman’s contract is expiring at the London Stadium, and the 34-year-old may feel that remaining in the area will benefit his young family.

Millwall could do with a player of Collins’ experience to develop their side into promotion contenders once again, and the player still has a lot to offer, especially if he were to drop into the second tier.

With George Saville in electric form and likely to attract interest from club’s higher up the division and in the Premier League, Harris will need a contingency plan if he does indeed lose the former Chelsea trainee.

Oztumer could provide the perfect alternative, with the diminutive playmaker looking ready to make the step up to the higher level following several excellent years with Walsall in League One.

Born just down the road in Greenwich, a return home may appeal to a player who has also plied his trade in Turkey, with Harris sure to be drawn to the player’s undeniable ability and appealing contract status.

This deal looks very likely if Harris sparks an interest.

Another League One star set to enter free agency when his contract expires at the end of the season, James could be a worthy addition to the squad at The Den following an excellent spell with promotion=chasing Wigan Athletic.

A mainstay in the Latics side under Paul Cook this term, the 24-year-old looks ready to ply his trade at the higher level, and Millwall could benefit from swelling their squad with the talented full-back.

The player comes from a family of football talent, with brother Matty a Premier League winner with Leicester City, and James may consider his own top-flight dream to be achievable with the Lions.

If Millwall are to be considered serious contenders next season, they will need to bolster their numbers, and James could be the perfect addition given his contract status and ability.
