Danny Cowley’s reign as manager of Lincoln City is fast approaching its two-year anniversary and what a couple of years it has been for fans under the former Braintree Town boss.

Promotion to League Two, a whirlwind FA Cup run which took them to the Emirates, and now a Wembley final in the Checkatrade Trophy and a shot at the League Two play-offs have all contributed to the club’s most successful spell in decades, and perhaps of all time.

Alongside brother Nicky who is his assistant, Cowley will almost expect his side to finish within the top seven this season with plans for the third tier sure to be at the back of the impressive young boss’ mind.

If the Imps do pull off an eye-opening successive promotion, this trio could emerge as serious summer targets…

The experienced striker has bagged for fun at Rochdale over the past couple of seasons and with Dale looking likely for the drop, the 33-year-old will surely allow his contract with the club to run out.

Sixteen goals in all competitions so far this season is a solid return and Cowley could turn to the services of the former Norwich City man whether the Imps are promoted or not, with the club desperate for a fourth striker.

If promotion isn’t secured this term then the club will surely aspire for an automatic elevation next time out should Cowley not be tempted by an offer from a higher level and Henderson is exactly the player who can take Imps to the next level whatever division they find themselves in.

The Lincolnshire-born striker holds the record of being the Imps’ fierce rivals Boston United’s youngest player having made his debut at York Road as a 15-year-old and could make a contentious move to Sincil Bank in the summer when his deal at Scunthorpe United expires.

The player’s form with the Pilgrims earned him a switch to Leicester City but he failed to break into the first team at the King Power Stadium, but the 24-year-old has certainly established himself in the Football League following a solid spell with the Iron.

Lincoln’s current striking options are ageing and if Cowley decides upon pursuing younger targets than the likes of Henderson, Hopper could be a wonderful addition at either League Two or League One level.

Lincoln are likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper in the summer with current first-choice Ryan Allsop set to return to parent club Bournemouth and long-serving Paul Farman likely to leave, leaving Josh Vickers as the only senior option at Sincil Bank.

Gerken is likely to leave Ipswich Town in the summer with his contract set to expire, and could provide back up and competition to Vickers, who has impressed since linking up with the Imps since his Swansea City contract expired.

An experienced head who could help develop Vickers into at least a Championship-level shot stopper, Gerken could prove to be an excellent addition both on and off the pitch, with the temptation of joking an exciting project such as Lincoln’s sure to appeal to the 32-year-old.
