The final nine games of the season are set to keep Barnsley fans on the edge of their seats, with the Tykes fighting for their lives towards the foot of the table.

With Birmingham, Burton and Sunderland breathing down their necks, manager Jose Morais will be well aware that his side probably need to pick up at least fifteen more points to ensure safety is secured and will be driving his player’s towards preserving his side’s second-tier status in the coming weeks.

Whatever happens to the south Yorkshire side this term, Morais has a lot of work to do to ensure the club are ready for the new season, with changes needed to avoid another relegation scrap if survival is the outcome.

The Portuguese could target this trio in the summer to improve his squad…

The Sheffield-born star is set to see his contract with Millwall expire in the summer and could be tempted to return to his home county should Barnsley reveal an interest in the player.

Gregory is almost into double figures this season but has seen his stock fall on the market from previous seasons, meaning that the Tykes have a realistic chance of securing his signature.

A quality striker in the prime of his career, the 29-year-old could form a deadly partnership with Tom Bradshaw at Oakwell, with the club possessing the funds under Chinese ownership to fund the player’s wages.

If Morais can pull this one off, fans will be delighted to welcome their fellow Yorkshireman to the club.

The 30-year-old has been finding the back of the net on a regular basis for Oldham this term, with the loanee’s future with parent club Preston looking increasingly uncertain.

His contract runs for another year so Barnsley will have to stump up a fee for the player, but it is likely that Preston boss Alex Neil won’t put up much of a fight should offers come in.

Doyle would be the perfect signing at Oakwell should the club go down and should score a lot of goals in a promotion-chasing side, something the Tykes will undoubtedly be if they find themselves relegated.

The 23-year-old winger had a season-long loan spell with Fulham cut short after failing to make an impact in West London, with his future at parent club Wolves uncertain with his contract expiring in the summer.

Graham showed glimpses of quality during his time in the first-team at Molineux but has no future at the club now that Nuno Santo has a seemingly unlimited pot if funds to splash when the Black Country side are ultimately promoted to the top-flight this term.

The player can cut it at this level with the right side, and Barnsley should allow the player to flourish with Graham certain to enjoy the limelight at a traditionally ‘smaller’ club.

The perfect move for all parties, Morais would be wise to pursue a deal.
