Nottingham Forest were part of the drama on the final day of the season at the weekend as Bolton secured their Championship safety against them.

It was no doubt a less tense experience for Reds fans than the final day last year but, even so, they managed to find themselves in the thick of the drama.

Certainly, they could have relegated the Trotters as they threatened throughout but, ultimately, that is not what happened.

The summer is on the agenda next, then, and Aitor Karanka will be planning to sign players that get the Reds towards the right end of the league in 2018/19.

Who comes in, of course, remains to be seen but we think that the Spaniard needs to start his business by addressing these three issues at the club...

Attack is a problem at Forest and that is something we've probably not said for a few years concerning the Reds.

For so long it's been the defence that has been the issue but under Karanka we've seen spells without goals that have been a bit worrying.

At times the Reds can still blow sides away but they need to do that more regularly and that's what the Spaniard needs to address.

Left-back is a position that has caused the club some headaches this season.

Ben Osborn has filled in there more often than not under Karanka but surely a manager like the former Boro man would want to use him in midfield and get a more orthodox option in.

Juan Fuentes was unlucky with injury and so a new left-sided defender might be the way forward.

Goalkeeper was a position that looked to have been solved by the club but it now seems up in the air.

Costel Pantilimon started brightly but had to come out of the side due to personal reasons and since Stefanos Kapino has been in the side.

It remains to be seen if Karanka is happy with what he's got and looks to keep them or if he aims to shake things up between the sticks once more.
