Birmingham City’s start to the season has been encouraging, with Garry Monk’s side looking to make an impact in the race for the play-offs heading into a crucial festive period.

It was a slow start to the season for Birmingham, but since their victory at Elland Road in September, they’ve been on the rise, moving to a solid mid-table position and on the verge of the play-off race.

Monk’s side head to Villa Park for the Second City derby on Sunday, but ahead of that contest, some worrying transfer news has emerged regarding Che Adams, with the Telegraph reporting that Stoke City are preparing a £5m bid for the 22-year-old.

Adams, who has eight goals and two assists to his name this season, was brought to Birmingham by current Stoke boss Gary Rowett, who is looking to reunite across the Championship.

Here, we take a look at THREE impacts losing Adams would have on Birmingham…

Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz have scored 17 goals between them this season, proving to be one of the Championship’s most lethal partnerships.

They compliment each other extremely well, and should Adams depart, we could see Jutkiewicz's form dip.

There’d be huge pressure on the 29-year-old.

The tightness in the Championship means that Birmingham are still well in the hunt for the play-offs this season, but losing one of their star men would be a serious kick in the teeth.

Should Adams depart, to a rival, it would surely affect Birmingham’s play-off push.

Monk has done superb job in uniting everyone at Birmingham after a difficult couple of years, but selling Adams could undo a lot of that good work.

The manager clearly will not want to lose Adams and if he departs it would be a decision made by those above him.

That could spark more unrest at St Andrew’s.
