Sheffield Wednesday appear to have gone from the cusp of the Premier League to a favourite for relegation in the space of twelve short months, with Jos Luhukay at the centre of it all.

That is harsh on Luhukay of course.

He's renowned for getting teams out of the second tier in Germany, but he's rarely had to do so under such trying conditions.

His hands are tied as he's unable to sign new players and has a weaker squad than last time around. He's relying heavily on his coaching ability and the sublime talent of Fernando Forestieri.

Even with the special forward on fire, it's going to be a big job keeping his side out of the bottom three.

There are plenty of questions to be asked at Hillsborough right now and not all of them centre on the manager, but undoubtedly he will be the one who pays the price for a succession of failures from the owner and club staff.

FLW takes the time to look at three questions still hanging over the head of Jos Luhukay.

Last season it was injuries, this season the transfer embargo, but the big question is whether he is actually up to the job at all?

The circumstances have been tough, that much is true, but has their been any improvement at all, in the football, in the results or in the belief?

The owner recently said he would walk away if someone better could be found, if Luhukay said the same, would it really take that long to find a better candidate?

Luhukay said he was happy with the squad earlier in the summer, but will those comments come back to haunt him?

It was a feeble attempt at instilling confidence and hope in the fans and the players, but nobody believed him. Does his weak attempt at building spirit indicate he's not the right man to drive the Owls forward?

Are the players still on board, or has Luhukay lost them entirely?

Forestieri might be the focal point, but the indiscipline in a recent friendly against Mansfield suggests there are issues behind the scenes.

If professional players can lose their cool so openly during a friendly, surely there is a deeper issue?

Do the players want to play for Luhukay, or is the run of results about far more than a transfer embargo and challenging financial times?
