A very poor season for the London club as their mediocrity was summed up this weekend by another drab result, 1-1 at home to Reading.

The glamour of the Premier League seems to be a world away as this once yo-yo club are now in a complete rebuilding process, as they try to reach a positive league position to reflect an average season.

Gone now the likes of Bosingwa, the player for me who summed up Rangers drop from the golden league, lifeless, pointless and well, just why are you there?

This season has been difficult for Rangers fans to comprehend and with the selling on of striker Charlie Austin, The Hoops have found it difficult to replace his goals and assists. It is safe to say that this campaign is one to forget.

It seems crucial that whomever comes in to the London club next season needs to give them that firepower, Hasselbaink has a job on his hands to revive the club's fortunes on the pitch and off the pitch.

Football League World writer Conor McGilligan takes a look at THREE players that have let the club down this season:....

Sebastian Polter

Sebastian Polter

It was announced that Sebastian Polter had signed for QPR on a three-year deal at the start of the season from Bundesliga side FSV Mainz 05.

An excited set of QPR fans may have looked at Polter's goal conversion rate and probably become optimistic, his ratio in Germany wasn't prolific, but was enough to get fans excited and ready for an Austin replacement? Maybe not. Clumsy, inconsistent and unable to run, some terms used by Rangers fans to describe the 6ft3 striker.

His time at Wolfsburg, Nuremburg and recently Union Berlin Poulter revelled, even scoring 14 goals in 26 appearances last season.

But with only 7 goals to his name and numerous appearances the frontman isn't finding the net enough and especially in the big games for The Hoops.

His hold up play and arial threat has been neutralised by most Championship teams and Polter rarely looks a threat on the counter or in the opposition's box, his clumsy nature has made him easy to mark and questions whether or not he was the right man for the Centre Forward spot.

Junior Hoilett

Junior HoilettJunior Hoilett

The man has undoubted quality, before you hate this post Rangers fans, I am not unaware of this fact.

What disappoints me with the Canadian is his attitude.

After numerous players left in the Summer, Hoilett was one of the remaining high on the wage budget, but Rangers thought of the winger highly after his respectable performances in the Premier League (out of a bad bunch may I add).

The reason he has made the list is due to his constant contract disputes and misleading quotes on his future, with the obvious intention to leave.

After pulling up 6 goals and 0 assists in 22 matches it's been a very uninspiring season from a man who is tipped by most to be signed by a world class European side in either Besiktas or Inter Milan.

The man has obvious talent, but his lacklustre, uninspiring contribution to a team who have missed out on quality in the final third has been a frustration to a lot of R's fans.

He has the ability with his low centre of gravity to lure the opposition full back in to them blitz him with pace, we have seen this from Hoilett in the past but it seems like his attention is elsewhere and for that reason you would question his commitment to the cause.

Nedum Onuoha

Nedum Onuoha-

After Grant Hall's emergence this year you can see the quality the young starlet has brought to the backline.

His influence has been keeping Rangers in many games, the cool head on the young man is said to be England quality and after his Spurs fall the young man seems to be picking up his performances and his teams displays week after week.

One performer who continues to be average is Nedum Onuoha, his lack of pace, clumsyness and wage budget should be terrifying R's fans across the country.

The reason I compare and even mention Hall is the complete difference in the two's quality even as the starlet has just reached his early 20's.

For a fraction of the wage price and transfer cost you could sign a quality, experienced man to partner Hall, someone such as Sol Bamba from Leeds or Marc Roberts of Barnsley.

After signing a new contract last year R's fans must be fretting as the once Manchester City man has this season been quite slow on the uptake. When he plays he looks sluggish and panicky.

The loss of quality players around him has effected the ex Premier League man as he seems a yard or two behind, an example of this would be at the weekend when Vydra and Rakels for Reading were a constant threat, when the ball was put in behind Rangers, a consistent worry and problem resulting in the league position and fall of this club.

This can be addressed and improved quite easily for next season.

QPR fans, what do you think to these thoughts? Are they valid or can you think of worse players this season?Leave your comments in the box below!
