Derby County have won their last three matches in all competitions and appear to finally be starting to build some momentum again.

The Rams made a poor start to the season under Phillip Cocu but there's still time for the team to get their season back on track, although many feel that the Dutchman will need to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

One player who Derby have been linked with recently is highly-rated Manchester United full-back George Tanner.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at League Two outfit Morecambe, but the Manchester Evening News claim that he is attracting interest from a number of clubs.

Tanner has never made a first-team appearance for United and with his contract at Old Trafford set to expire at the end of the season, the Premier League club are considering ending his loan spell and cashing in on him this month.

Here are THREE qualities that Tanner would bring to Derby if he were to join the club...

Range of passing

Tanner is a great defender and he certainly isn't afraid to get stuck in, but he can also be described as a modern full-back. He's very good on the ball and has an impressive range of passing. He's also totally comfortable playing out from the back.

He's never played in the Championship before, but he should be a good fit for the Derby's style of play under Phillip Cocu and an experienced coach such as the Dutchman should be able to get the best out of him and help him to adapt.

Pace

Another one of Tanner's key attributes is his blistering pace, which proves very useful when both attacking and defending.

He's very quick and has got a lot of energy. In an attacking sense, he would be able to get forward and support his teammates by making runs up and down the flanks.

He'd be similar to Jayden Bogle and Max Lowe in that sense, which shows that he would be a good fit for the Rams' current style of play.

Defensive awareness

Even at such a young age, one of things that stands out about Tanner so far is that he has that all-important ability to read the game.

He's very a good at anticipating things and being in the right place at the right time from a defensive point of view.

He doesn't always dive into challenges, but he's also not afraid to get stuck in and make a slide tackle if he needs to, because he more often than not gets the timing right.
