Sheffield United are one of a plethora of Sky Bet Championship clubs that are interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion centre back Leo Ostigard this summer, as per a recent report by TEAMtalk.

The 21-year-old recently returned to the Premier League club this summer following a successful loan spell with Coventry City and could well be set for another move during the current window.

Sheffield United are said to be battling it out with the Sky Blues, Fulham, Stoke City, Bournemouth, Barnsley and Middlesbrough in the race to sign the well thought of Norwegian defender.

It is said that the nature of the deal would be another loan move, with Brighton boss Graham Potter being keen to see how the player develops further.

Here, we take a look at THREE qualities that Ostigard would bring to Bramall Lane if he signed for the Blades...

Previous Championship experience

The youngster may well be in the early years of his career as a professional, however he has already picked up some useful experiences in his fledgling career.

Ostigard developed heavily whilst on loan with Coventry last season and went on to become a key figure under Mark Robins as he racked up 40 appearances across all competitions.

He would bring the type of nous to the table that is needed for a promotion battle at Bramall Lane and only add to the experienced options that Slavisa Jokanovic already has at his disposal.

It is fair to say that the Norwegian is no stranger to the division.

Aerially dominant

Ostigard is also very dominant in the air and is capable of holding his own against a varied amount of forward players that the Championship has to offer.

He would be the perfect candidate to operate at the centre of a back three or four because of this and is certainly more of a stopper than a sweeper when it comes to his defensive style.

The youngster's qualities would compliment the more ball playing styles of Sheffield United's other defensive options and they would add more balance at the back when the team are out of possession.

Jokanovic would certainly be in favour of bringing in such a domineering presence at centre back.

Varied passing range

The 21-year-old also showed at Coventry that he is adept at playing out from the back where required, which is a quality that is sure to attract the Blades.

Jokanovic is already looking to employ a progressive passing style at Bramall Lane and Ostigard should fit into this nicely.

During his time at Coventry he showcased his ability to play long balls out from the back to great effect which allowed his side to switch the ball quickly to the flanks.

Turning defence to attack quickly is certainly something that the Blades will be looking to do on a regular basis and there is no doubt that the bright Norwegian defender can help with this.
