Fulham are lining-up a bid for Rangers defender Connor Goldson, according to Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has been in excellent form for Steven Gerrard's side this season - he's played in every Scottish Premier League game so far, scoring three goals and setting Rangers up for an enthralling title race with Celtic in the second-half of the campaign.

It's emerged today though that Scott Parker wants to bring the ex-Brighton defender back across the border. It'd be the third signing of the window for Fulham, after they finalised the deal with Chelsea for Michael Hector and sealed Ivan Cavaleiro's permanent stay.

Gerrard and Rangers fans won't want Goldson to leave now, but he's a man in demand - here's three qualities that Fulham fans can expect from Goldson if he signs:

Commanding

Goldson has been a leader for Rangers this season. His commanding performances in defence has enabled them to keep up with Celtic this season - Neil Lennon's side sit two points in-front in 1st, but Rangers have the game in hand.

He leads the line effectively and organises them even more so, and that's something that Fulham have been crying out for. Their defence at times this season has been woeful and it's because they're lacking a real leader in there.

Hector has come in and looks to have bettered things, but both Tim Ream and Alfie Mawson have come under scrutiny from fans this season.

Aerial threat

At 6'3, Goldson has a great aerial presence. In defence, he'll win most headers at set-pieces and so on, and in attack he's proving a handful too. This season he's scored three goals for Rangers to match his return last season, and extra goal-scorer is something that no team will turn down.

Fulham score enough, but they all come from the same group of players. If Fulham can get someone in like Goldson who'll chip in with the odd goal, it'll hugely benefit their chance of promotion this season. Most importantly though, his height will be crucial to solidifying their often leaky defence.

Ball player

Like all good central defenders of the 21st Century, Goldson has the ability to play. He can pass, take the ball forward, set up attacks and with that comes a player of great use to Fulham - Parker has persisted with his ideology of clean, possession football this season, and Goldson is just the type of player to compliment that style.

It remains to be seen whether Fulham will pursue Goldson, but he looks the part this season. That being said, dealings with the Scottish leagues is always a gamble, but it's whether or not Fulham and Parker are willing to take that gamble.
