Aston Villa have endured a miserable season in the Premier League being relegated with 17 points and only winning 3 games.

They did some poor transfer business in the summer selling their best players Benteke and Delph too Liverpool and Manchester City respectively and  Tim Sherwood brought in a host of unproven French players like Jordan Veretout and Jordan Amavi.

Sherwood won his opening game but that was as good as it got for Villa who then went on a 20 game winless run with Sherwood being sacked in late October and Remi Garde was installed as manager.

He was sacked at the end of March winning just 2 games and lost 13 of their final 15 games and by the end of March there relegation was all but confirmed.

New manager Roberto Di Matteo will try to keep the best players on board with Jordan Ayew, Jack Grealish and Scott Sinclair looking like they will stay.

Here are 3 Premier League wonder kids who would excel at Villa:

Patrick Bamford

Using his old links at Chelsea, Di Matteo may swoop for Chelsea man Patrick Bamford who is seeking a loan move to the Championship.

He is lethal in the Championship with spells at Derby and Middlesbrough, leading both sides to the playoff final.

With Middlesbrough he was more notorious with 19 goals and won Championship Player of the Year. He struggled when on loan at Norwich and Crystal Palace in the Premier League but is proven at this level and with the size of Villa they will make him an offer most other Championship sides can only dream of affording.

Alex Pritchard

The 23-year-old Tottenham winger was unfortunate last season not to play for Spurs after he injured his ankle in October. He had impressed the season before at Brentford helping the Bees defy expectations and reach the playoffs where they lost to Middlesbrough but his 12 goals and numerous assists earned him a hat full of accolades.

He won Brentford Player of the Year, was named the 8th best player in the Championship, named in PFA Team of the Year and was named by numerous outlets as the Football League wonderkid of the year and also won England U21 Player of the Year.

Tottenham were interested in integrating him into the first team but the injury kept him out and a late loan spell at West Brom didn't work out. But he will get regular football at Villa but they will have to move fast as a lot of Premier League sides are interested too.

Patrick Roberts

The former Fulham midfielder joined Manchester City for £12 million but is some way away from first team football at the Etihad with multi million pound wingers well above him in the pecking order.

Known for his pace, finishing and strength he got some first team football at Celtic in the Scottish Premier ship and was very impressive with 7 goals in 12 games.

He looked a level above and is also scoring regularly for the England youth teams and would do very well in the Championship. With Celtic keen on a permanent deal Villa will have to act fast.
