Birmingham had a good season under Gary Rowett finally showing some defensive strength and endeavor in midfield.

Rowett made some clever transfers at the start of the season with the free transfers of Mikael Kieftenbeld, Jacques Maghoma and Shane Lowry who have all bolstered the squad.

They have also made the wise loan signings of James Vaughan and Jon Toral, with the latter being very successful winning the Player of the Season award with 6 goals and plenty of positive attacking play.

The  problem they had the previous season under Lee Clarke was the defence which  nearly got them relegated but Rowett seems to be fixing it.

Rowett managed to turn Michael Morrison and Jonathan Grounds into a solid defensive unit and captain Paul Caddis was outstanding at right back.  Clayton Donaldson was their main goalscorer with Toral and Cotterill contributing well. They were on good from early on and were threatening the playoff places and picked up excellent results like a 3-0 win over Derby, but ran out of steam in the end. Here are 3 Premier League wonder kids they could sign for next season.
