Some of Bolton Wanderers' top players are being linked with moves away from the Macron Stadium this month, with the club struggling on and off the pitch.

The Trotters sit at the bottom of the Championship table, five points from safety, while hampered by a transfer embargo and unpaid tax bill, which has left the club unable to pay their staff and players.

Captain Darren Pratley, midfielder Mark Davies and winger Liam Feeney have all been linked with moves away from the club, as well as striker Zach Clough.

The 20-year-old was hampered by injury early in the campaign, but has scored three goals in 14 appearances for Bolton this season, after netting six in 10 games in the 2014-15 season.

Clough has been linked with a number of sides in the top flight, as well as elsewhere in the Championship.

Swansea City

Swansea City are in a relegation battle, with just 25 points from 23 games in the Premier League this season, leaving them 15th in the table.

Finding the back of the net has been a huge problem for the South Wales side, who have scored just 22 times so far this season.

With Bafetimbi Gomis out of form, and top scorer Andre Ayew linked with a move away from the Liberty Stadium, new manager Francesco Guidolin will be in the market for a new goal threat.

Swansea reportedly sent a scout to watch Clough in Bolton's win over MK Dons at the weekend, but a minor hip injury kept the forward out, although Neil Lennon's side face Leeds in the FA Cup later this week, giving the team another chance to look at the forward.

Everton

Everton are one of the top-scoring sides in the Premier League this season, but the Toffees have heavily relied on Romelu Lukaku, who has 15 league goals so far.

Ross Barkley and Arouna Kone have five and six goals respectively, but are the only other plays at Goodison to have scored more than twice this season.

A lack of playing time resulted in Steven Naismith departing Everton to join Norwich City earlier this month, leaving Roberto Martinez short of striking options if Lukaku were to suffer an injury or a dip in form, making it likely the club will sign a forward before the transfer window shuts.

Clough is a clinical finisher and has a habit of finding space in the box, which would make him an ideal deputy for Lukaku should the Belgian need to be rested.

West Bromwich Albion

Few sides need goalscorers more than West Bromwich Albion, as Tony Pulis's side have scored just 22 times this season - only Aston Villa have fewer.

Top scorer Saido Berahino is out of favour as he seeks a move away from the club, while summer signings Salomon Rondon and Rickie Lambert have struggled to find the target.

The Baggies' strong defending has kept the team away from the relegation zone so far, but a couple of errors could easily see West Brom caught by the teams behind them, making the acquisition of a striker vital.

West Brom have plenty of talent in midfield and on the wings who can create chances for a frontman like Clough, who would likely see more playing time at The Hawthorns than for a team like Everton.
