Tom Eaves is a talisman at Gillingham, a mobile and burly striker who seems to have goals follow him wherever he goes.

There's little doubt he's been a key player for them but, as his contract winds down, there's every chance he could end up making a move elsewhere.

If that happens, Steve Lovell will need to put a replacement right at the top of his list of priorities. Eaves' goals have bailed the Gills out over the last 18 months or so and if he failed to adequately replace them, it could be a disaster.

There's no shortage of good strikers around, but finding the right one at the right price would be the challenge. League One is awash with promise, but would Gillingham be able to financially compete for one of the divisions top players?

Or would they be forced into League Two for the right man to lead them forward?

FLW looks at three players who could replace Tom Eaves is he moves on in the near future.

A move for Stockley might require a degree of funding which might be out of their reach, but if not he's the perfect man to replace Eaves.

He's big, strong and has been scoring regularly for Exeter. If they fail to earn promotion he could hunt a move away from the south-west, with Gillingham hopefully able to offer League One football.

Ben Kennedy wouldn't have to move far, he's Stevenage based and has come through the ranks with Dino Maamria's side.

He's been amongst the goals this season and at 21 has bags of potential. Gillingham would be a big step up for him but one he's capable of making.

He might be out of Gillingham's reach too, but if they could make a move for Norwood happen then they'd be wise to do so.

He's a natural goal scorer, a player who will instinctively score goals wherever he plays. he's been excellent for Tranmere this season, but at 28 he needs to make the move upwards sooner, rather than later.
