Wigan fans face a nervous wait in January to see if they can keep hold of one of their key men, with speculation already emerging about their future.

Nick Powell has been the key man for Wigan this season, but he is attracting shock interest from Bundesliga giants, RB Leipzig, who are reportedly interested in securing his signature.

The 24-year-old's current deal with the Championship club expires at the end of this season and many fans will be surprised if Powell is to remain with the club for another season.

The former Manchester United attacking midfielder has certainly proved himself and his goals almost single-handedly fired the Latics to promotion to the Championship last season and despite his injury worries this season, he is the club's top goalscorer with four goals.

Powell will be hoping to return to action in the near future and play a vital role in firing Wigan up the table with the January transfer window approaching.

But what replacements could Wigan be looking at to replace Powell?

Find out who they should be targeting in January here....

Many West Brom fans would have expected Burke to play a vital part in their promotion push this season, but he is yet to make a league start for the Baggies.

Burke has a considerable amount of potential that he will be keen to fulfil, so Wigan could be tempted to make a loan move for attacking midfielder as he could provide them with the creative spark they have been missing since Powell's injury.

The Reading attacking midfielder has rarely featured for Reading this season, but did impress in his cameo appearances last season.

Clement has clearly fallen out of favour under Paul Clement and he will be keen to prove himself in English football and Wigan could be an ideal destination for the Dutchman.

The Peterborough outcast has well publicised issues at the League 1 side and he will surely be a target for several clubs in January.

Maddison was hugely impressive for Peterborough last season and he will be keen to nail down some regular first-team football in the near future.

There is no doubting that on his day, Maddison is one of the most creative players in League 1, but it would be a risk signing him, as there would be fears he couldn't take the step up to the Championship.
