Blackburn Rovers could be looking for a new striker before the end of the summer transfer window.

Reports from Sky Sports have claimed that Southampton have agreed a fee to sign Adam Armstrong, meaning that the striker is now free to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical ahead of a move.

The 24-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Ewood Park but seems likely to move on with an opportunity in the Premier League awaiting.

While this would be a big opportunity for Armstrong it means that Blackburn will need to sign a suitable replacement in order to help them to compete in the Championship.

So who could join the club this summer? We take a look at three potential contenders.

Michael Obafemi

The Southampton striker could be an ideal candidate to head to Ewood Park.

Reports from The Sun have previously linked Obafemi with Blackburn Rovers as part of the move for Adam Armstrong, however it seems unlikely that he'll be a part of the deal.

However with the frontman looking for first team opportunities he could be the ideal addition for Tony Mowbray's side.

Liam Delap

The Manchester City starlet is a wanted man this summer.

Clubs such as Stoke City and Bournemouth have been linked with the talented frontman as he looks set for a season-long loan deal this term.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis joined on loan from City last term and with that relationship between the two clubs being alive and kicking, there's every chance that Blackburn could join the hunt.

Sam Greenwood

Another Premier League youngster who could be worth looking at.

Sam Greenwood currently plays for Leeds United after spending time with Sunderland and Arsenal's youth academies.

Tipped to be a future star, the 19-year-old will surely be looking for first team opportunities and this seems like exactly the sort of deal that could interest Blackburn Rovers as they target a young, hungry player to give additional firepower to the attack.
