Jos Luhukay is coming under increasing pressure as manager of Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls slumped to a 4-2 defeat at the weekend after a tepid 1-0 win in midweek which was their only win in their last six matches.

Luhukay has overseen just two wins in ten matches which include six defeats.

Wednesday went from the brink of the playoffs to now only five points off the relegation places in little over six weeks.

It has been a spectacular fall from grace after their early season promise when fans of the side were dreaming of another playoff push like they had experienced a few years ago.

That doesn’t look likely at present with the side further away from the top six and more towards the strugglers in the division.

Owls fans want Luhukay out of their club and if their current run continues they could soon get their wish.

Wednesday have the worst defence in the division, having conceded 36 goals.

If Dejphon Chansiri is to give the supporters what they want, them, they will need to have a replacement lined up.

With that said, here are three potential replacements to their current boss that Sheffield Wednesday must seriously consider.

The Barnsley boss is having a great time of it at Oakwell at present with the club fifth in League One and safely through to the third round of the FA Cup.

His philosophy and ability to work on a tight budget, has made him hot property in the third tier and is bringing success to the club after their relegation last season.

A forward-thinking, progressive manager, Sheffield Wednesday could do much worse than to prize the young manager away from the Tykes should Jos Luhukay be dismissed.

The former West Brom and Aston Villa boss has been out of the game for a while now and could be tempted for a move back to the EFL.

The former Chelsea manager, who led them to an unprecedented Champions League title, is a big name and could well get the fans back on the side of the Owls’ hierarchy, in a bit to stave off the real threat of relegation.

With the January transfer window coming up, the next few weeks could be vital for Wednesday who might want a new manager in place before the window opens.

Steve Bruce is a master of the Championship, and boasts extensive Premier League experience, too.

If the Owls were to replace Jos Luhukay, there is no one more fitting for the role than the former Aston Villa man.

He knows the division, and with a group of players who would want to listen to him and learn his methods, it could be a real coup to get a man of his calibre to Hillsborough.

There would be confidence within the club that he would easily steer them away from the bottom reaches of the league and further progress under his watch.
