Leeds United return to league action this weekend by welcoming Burton Albion to town, and fans will eagerly anticipate the club’s return to Elland Road with several new signings in the squad following transfer deadline-day.

The Whites have been poor at home so far, and are yet to score a goal following consecutive 0-0 stalemates against Fulham and Preston.

Manager Thomas Christiansen will hope to pick up his first home league win as Leeds boss, against a Burton Albion side with just a single win to their name this season.

The Dane will put out a team he feels is capable of putting the Brewers to the sword, and here we look at three potential line-ups the manager could look to utilise this weekend.

4-2-3-1

Christiansen used this formation in Leeds’ 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest, and is likely to continue with this winning formula against Burton.

A back-line of Luke Ayling, Pontus Jansson, Liam Cooper and Vurnon Anita should be protected by Kalvin Phillips and Eunan O’Kane, with the pair patrolling the midfield for errant balls to spray into the wide positions.

Alioski has to continue on the right with Samu Saiz in the middle, but Kemar Roofe could be moved to the left side of midfield, with Pablo Hernandez moving to the bench.

New signing Pierre-Michel Lasogga could be given his first start against a vulnerable Burton defence, with fellow new boy Pawel Cibicki waiting in the wings.

4-4-2

A more attack minded approach could be taken at Elland Road, with Christiansen potentially consdering playing his holding pair further up the field.

Phillips could be partnered in midfield by impressive youngster Ronaldo Vieira, with the player forging an excellent reputation for himself following his break into the first team under Garry Monk last season.

Roofe and Alioski could occupy the wings, with Saiz sitting just behind either Cibicki or Lasogga, who will fight for the starting spot in training this week.

4-4-2 Diamond

Christiansen may go all out against Burton, with a back four, and a single holding midfielder marshalling the back-line.

Alioski and Roofe could operate on the flanks, with Samu Saiz at the point of the midfield diamond, with both Cibicki and Lasogga earning their debuts in the famous white strip.

Jay-Roy Grot is an option from the bench, with a lot of goals in this potential Leeds starting XI.

Christiansen is most likely to adopt the same formation that saw Forest convincingly defeated at the City Ground, with perhaps one of his new forward signings coming into the starting line-up against the Brewers.

The Danish manager will view this fixture as an opportunity for some of his new men to get break their goalscoring ducks, so it is likely at least one new striker will start, with the others coming off the bench in the second half.

Leeds fans, which approach would you opt for this weekend?
