Preston North End appointed Alex Neil as manager on Tuesday – the ex-Norwich man signing a 12-month rolling contract at Deepdale.
One of Neil’s first priorities will be to sign reinforcements for a squad that finished 11th for two consecutive seasons, a big achievement given that North End have one of the smallest budgets in the Championship.
The squad as a whole is well balanced, with former manager Simon Grayson bringing in Declan Rudd, Josh Harrop and Sean Maguire before he left the club for Sunderland.
However, injuries and a lack of depth in certain positions means that Neil will need to search the transfer market for some reinforcements, to ensure that Preston can effectively challenge this season.
